Communication & Recruitment

University Athlete

College Coaches use this app to locate players at tournaments. Register on your phone for this recruiting app or use the link below:

Contacting Coaches

You are always allowed to contact coaches, however they only have brief periods of contacting you. Make sure you know if they are in their "dead periods" and stay in contact weekly!

Highlight Video

Less than 2 minute video highlighting your specific skill. This can be viewed on YouTube or a link that is easy to click on and view- these coaches get so many emails a day and are not going to hunt for information! Attach a single game (to 25) in another link for them to view if they like the highlight video. Make yourself easy to find

MAKE YOURSELF EASY TO FIND AND DO NOT INCLUDE MUSIC

Tournament Interactions

Remember that you are being evaluated for more than your playing. You are entering their business and will be joining their program as a member. They want to see how you act towards your teammates, parents, other team parents and coaches. Parent conduct is important as well in this area of recruitment. They are recruiting the family as well as the player.

Social Media

Coaches will look at your account to see what kind of person you are outside of the sport. Please make sure what you post and say display your character.

College Visits

NCAA Eligibility Center

You must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center (formerly the NCAA clearing house) in order to participate in official visits

SAT or ACT Completion

Be aware of the scores that are required to get into the school of interest. You can take these several times to get your scores higher for academic aide. Coaches want this taken before they have you on campus if a minimum score is needed to attend!

FAFSA

There are many options for financial aid outside of a full athletic scholarship. Make sure to explore all options available to you. FAFSA is a government scholarship that does not have to be paid back.

Make it count

Remember that you can only take 5 official visits! You are allowed to take as many UNOFFICIAL visits as you want and can coordinate to let the University know the dates you will be doing those.

Be sure to check to make sure the major of your choosing is available!
